Remember a Rude Employee Reflects on the Store

Yesterday we quickly ran into the Kohls store in Troy Ohio. We love going to Kohls as they have loads of items on sale all the time. We found two items for a great deal. The checkout lines were a little busy as it was later in the evening and getting closer to closing time. We wanted to hurry as we needed to head over to another store nearby before they closed.

So, we went over to the checkout line that only had one person ahead of us. The cashier ("E") and the other customer were having a conversation while "E" was checking the customer out. This is fine as long as it doesn't get in the way of the transaction. "E" was not able to complete her conversation and still complete the transaction in a timely matter, as it prolonged the transaction. For while "E" was checking the customer out she would stop from time to time to just talk. Of course this didn't seem to upset the customer she was helping at the time. But it did however upset me. I was standing in line longer than needed to be with my four children. Plus I was in a hurry neither "E" or the other customer seemed to care about anyone other than themselves.

I got to hear all about how "E's" husband gets upset that she spends too much money at Kohls either when she is on her break or after she gets off work. That now her husband drops her off and picks her up from work. And that now her husband stalks her to make sure she is only working at Kohls and not shopping at Kohls. I personally really do not care about what going on in my cashiers personal life. This may seem a little rude on my part, but I am there to shop and leave the store.

"E" finally finished checking out the other customer and started to work on our order. This did not stop "E" from talking to the other customer. "E" continued to talk to the customer while she was checking us out. "E" didn't say anything to us until the end when she gave me my receipt and said if I was happy with her service to please fill out the survey for her. WOW! really what type of review do you feel you will be getting from me?

We were able to make it to the other store 5 mins before they closed.

Employee's need to remember that what they say and does not only reflects on them, but also the store they work for.

We will not ever go to cashier "E" again...
